Bigtop go to the circus

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

Well, we didn’t all go this year. But two years ago we all went to Gifford’s Circus for Bigtop’s summer treat. The circus had a year off last year, but this year they’re back. Lauren went last Friday with friends. Amy, myself and lots of family went on Saturday evening. Daniel hasn’t been able to go this year as he’s too busy changing nappies.

Saturday’s performance was one of the best things I have ever seen in my life. It’s true. Don’t think lion tamers and chained elephants. Think flexible Eastern Europeans and a goose. It really is a magical experience and I suggest you visit their website to find out if they are coming to a village green near you. Visit their website here. Or if you need further convincing, have a look at the great review The Guardian wrote here.

Brass Construction

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

Every week we’ll try and bring you a charity shop record that we recommend you hunt down and add to your music collection. This week, get your gold pants on and get back to 1975 with this industrial-sized slab of funk from Brass Construction. Look at the cover and there’s not much more to say. Brass. Construction. Brass and construction. Brass Construction. Taking you to a happier time when anything went, have a listen to stand-out track ‘Peekin’ – the story of a happy-go-lucky peeping Tom and his harmless attempts to climb a tree and peek through your bedroom curtains. It was acceptable in the 70′s. Honest.

Bike Love

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

On Friday night me and my friends went on a super bike race with the oxford alleycats. We dressed up our bikes and ourselves, stopping off at check points in Oxford City Centre, ending at the pubfor a well deserved pint. We didn’t win but we had so much fun that we felt like we were winners anyway! 14-22 June is national bike week and there are lots of fun ways to get on yer bike. Enjoy.
