Harry is poorly …

Wednesday, April 27th, 2011

Oh dear, my Morris Minor is sitting at the garage over the road looking a bit glum. We took him for his MOT last week with thoughts of picnics over the Easter weekend in the glorious sunshine … but he failed … on his brakes (quite important I suppose), a stubborn trafficator and a broken bulb on the number plate also played a part. So we stayed in the garden, sulking.

I have just phoned up to check how he’s doing (just fine) and perhaps how much this is going to cost me (they can’t say?!). I must be patient, he’ll come home when he’s ready …

Nice to be back at work though, too many teenagers and revision books at my house.

Walking in London

Thursday, April 14th, 2011

Three quarters of Bigtop visited the London Book Fair 2011 yesterday.

We saw lots of books. And lots more books.

Daniel and me walked from Marylebone to Earl’s Court, stopping on the way for a coffee. And then again for a Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Lip Balm as walking in London seems to make for very dry lips.

By the time we got the the Fair we were tired. So tired.

We guessed we’d walked 6 or 7 miles.

As it turns out it was 4.2 miles.

You can follow our footsteps here.

Daniel had a hole in the bottom of his shoe too.

Destroyer – Kaputt

Destroyer’s Dan Bejar looks more than ‘a bit’ like our friend Jon Mattar. Especially in these sunglasses. It’s an uncanny resemblance!

Kaputt is his latest record. It’s been out a while in the US, but not so easy to get hold of over here, until very recently. I got my copy yesterday and It’s good… no, really good. Nine albums into his career he’s pulled a career defining masterpiece out of the bag. I’d like to use lots more big words and references to impress, but you may as well just go here for that.
