Stripy straws …

Tuesday, November 29th, 2011

Anyone who was at primary school in the  1970′s will remember drinking their milk in little glass bottles with a straw. Sometimes on a hot sunny day it would be disgustingly warm, but on the whole, a welcome drink to break the day. All year the teacher would save the foil tops and at Christmas, we’d string them together to make decorations … oh, to be little again.

Anyway, I have acquired some bottles and just to make my nostalgia trip complete, I ordered some straws from Papermash a great website with lots of lovely paper based things (the cards and tags are particularly lovely).

They arrived quicker than a milk float on speed and with a nice little note from Lynne saying thank you for supporting her small business … how lovely.

That’s my spotty masking tape in the picture too …

Goodyear High School

Friday, November 25th, 2011

Lex Goodyear is getting married, so Ali Hill, from Taylor & Francis, asked me to design a school crest for Lex’s hen party weekend.

Like me, Lex likes travel, fashion, cocktails and music.

Even though I offered to wear a dress, I wasn’t allowed to go on the hen weekend.

And I look good in a dress.

By the way, if you’d like bigtop to design a school crest for your hen weekend, just give us a call. ;)

Sleeping with my phone …

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011

I have bought the Sleep Cycle app for my iPhone and was just wondering if anybody else has it?

With the exception of one night camping last summer, I haven’t slept a whole night through in about a year. I’m usually awake between three and four every night worrying about silly little things like my children (my children aren’t silly little things, but my imaginary teenage diseases are) and if that irate car driver’s prolonged beeeeep was meant for me when I pulled out onto the roundabout that afternoon … stupid. So, while many of you are dreamimg nice things, I’m looking at the alarm clock wondering how I can stop thinking weird things and get back to sleep.

Anyway, here is a graph of my sleep pattern from Monday night. I went to bed at 23.37 (too late, I know) and was woken up gently by the sleep cycle alarm at 6.57. It shows that yes, I am awake between 3 and 4 (how clever is that?) and that there’s a fair bit of REM going on (apparently), do you have a graph? Want to share it? Go on, it’ll be fun …
