Cold winter hols

Monday, January 30th, 2012

Johnny and I like to embrace the winter months and follow the cold weather. First was Iceland, then last year Northern Norway in the arctic circle, and this year Kiev. It was surprisingly mild though compared to previous winter trips, sticking around the 5º mark and not a flake of snow to be seen. Ah well. It’s quite good to see a place without snow sometimes. As you may have read in a previous blog we have friends in Ukraine, and they made us feel right at home. Whilst there we visited a great park called Pyrohiv that’s filled with Ukrainian building – dismantled and transported there from all over the country. Quite impressive. This church is one of them. It was a bleak day but thoroughly enjoyable. Go next time you’re in the area.

Worton Organic Garden

Worton has become a favourite place of mine. After buying their fruit and veg at our local farmers market for the last few years, Johnny and I finally made it over to their farm shop and cafe… a nice little bike tootle away. You can join their cute little chickens and roam around the veg patches and greenhouses before sampling some delicious treats in the café. Worton sell great produce and are super friendly. We first visited in October and I can’t wait to go in the Spring when things will be in bloom and it’ll all seem even more magnificent (if that’s possible).

and the winner is…

Nigel Rumsey

Well done Nigel.

We had four entries this year.

Four entries. Do you know how that makes us feel?

Not good. That’s how.
