Big D’s Carp Wall

Howdy sports fans. It’s Thursday, and we all know what that means… Yup, it’s time for the latest edition of the one and only Carp Wall. So without further ado, here’s a fine fishy to whet your appetite.

This weeks fish came once again from the Oxford Canal (spent rather a lot of time down there it would seem). This time I was fishing a prebaited spot close to the Jolly Boatman pub near thrupp where the overhanging trees and moored boats were just a bit too much to resist. In went the boilies and out went the rigs, a couple of hours later this little chap ended up in my net. It just goes to show, It’s not all about size. Look at the scale pattern on this little beauty, I think you’ll agree with me… Gorgeous!! at 10lb 3oz. It’s certainly one of the smaller canal captures but it’s always a buzz to get the first fish from a new area. Especially one as handsome as this!

D offered a whittled down 14mm hookbait on a size 8 korda wide gape tied to a 4 inch 15lb sufix stealth hooklink on a 3oz lead. This was fished below a bush on the opposite bank with a pva bag of whole and crushed freebies. BINGO!!

May pop over to linear this weekend for the world carp championships… See how the pros do it!
